DBH 1 and DBH 2, Gernika Basketball players!

Yesterday we were honoured with the visit of two great basketball players from Gernika Basketball team. They gave us a talk about sport and healthy live and students asked many questions and took photos with them. This is the interview pupils wrote, enjoy!

QUESTIONS:

What made you want to play basketball?

 BRITTANY:

-Well, I always loved sports and when I started playing basketball, I suddenly fell in love with it.

CLAUDIA:-One day, my school teacher asked if someone wanted to play basketball, and I got very

interested. I thought that I had to train more because I didn't know anything about it, and then I just

started to love it and it became my new hobby.

Do you enjoy playing this sport?

BRITTANY:-Yes I do, but it can sometimes be tiring with all of the training and staying healthy,and

that's a big challenge since I love eating pizza.

What do you feel when you play basketball?

CLAUDIA:-It's really exciting to feel the emotion of the audience and all of our hard work pays of

when we see their faces.

BRITTANY:-It's so wonderful to see everyone cheering for you because it motivates us to see that

they support and care for us, although, sometimes it's not very pleasant to watch them sad or upset

because we lost a match.

Claudia-I speak English,Romanian and Spanish.
Brittany-I speak English and very little  Spanish.

The basketball players´ names are Claudia, a girl with blond hair that measures 1.8m and Britany, a girl with black hair that measures 1.9m.

When did they start to play basketball?:Claudia starts at the age of 8  and Britany at the age of  10.

How old are they?:Claudia is 25 years old and Britany 27.

Why did they choose basketball and not another sport?:Because it is the sport that they really like and are good at it.

What are their favourite animals?:Claudia likes all animals (but out of home) and Britany´s favourite animal is the lion.

How is the best player of the team?:They say that all of them are good.

Is the size important to play basketball?:No, it isn ´t ,you can play basketball well if you are tiny or giant.

Do they eat junk food?:Britany sometimes after a match, but Claudia never.

- What was your favourite subject at school?

  Claudia: I liked Geography and Maths, and I also liked reading.

  Britany: I liked Art, and lunch time too (laughing), but I think my favourite one was Science.

- Was it a difficult decision for you to move to the Basque country?

  Claudia: Not really, I'm always moving from one city to another, so it wasn't difficult. For example, last year, before coming here I was in the South of Spain, in Huelva. But I prefer the people at the North (laughing).

- Is there a good atmosphere in the team?

  Claudia: It's the best atmosphere! When we are travelling and we are bored, we all together start to discuss about everything, you know, that's what girls do (laughing).

  Britany: Yeah, I'm with Claudia, there's a very good atmosphere.

 How did you discover that you liked basketball?
Britany: Just playing it. At the beginning I didn't like it much, but after playing it for a while I started to love it.
Claudia: Once I tried it I liked it, so I wanted to play again.

this question is difficult because the movile phone have advantages and disadvantages.

The mobile phone have many tools that help us every day. for example; the calender, alarm clock , lantern, internet that can help us to do homework and other exercisies, also the movile phone have camera.

But the mobile phone also has social networks social networks that can make you not want to detach the mobile. And the games can you  too addicted to mobile, so we have to be careful with that,

Forum165: That is a very good question. There are advantages and disadvantages .
The good part. It is good because they start very early to understand the new technology and it make them write more fast on keypads. It is also good that it makes children smarter in the new technology.
The bad part. It can create addition and can make children to don't pay attention at classes and it can make them to don't study. Also, it can make them to don't move even move to communicate from one room to another.
Therefore, it doesn't exist any clear answer to that question.

DBH 2, Personal Experiences

MY EXPERIENCE

At Christmas 2011, my family and some friends went to London for 4 days. Everything was OK until my parents continued touring the city without me. My bad experience started when we entered a gift shop. The things there were very pretty: they had small Big Bens, T-shirts... With all this I got distracted and I didn't noticed that my family had left! So when I got bored, I started finding them but they weren't at the shop! I was very frightened and I decided to stay still in front of the door. I had waited 10 minutes when suddenly I saw my father running towards me. At that moment I started to cry because I was vey happy to see him.
At that trip I learned that you cannot be so scatterbrained, even if a little bit of fault was of my parents!

A great experience.

I have always wanted to go surfing and this summer I did it. I went to a surf course for a week.

The first day in the course was very easy. We only worked in the sand. The second day was a little bit more difficult. The rest of the days were more difficult, but it was fine because I met many people.

      A Great Experience

     I have always wanted to volunteer at a residence and yesterday I actully did it. I volunteered at the residence for a week and I love it.

     I worked at the residence on Mondays and Tusdays afternoon because this days are my only free afternoons. I feed the elderly and many others activities. I often help the workeds.

     working at the residence has been the best experience of my life so I recommend it to all my friends.

AN EXPERIENCE IN AFRICA

I've always wanted to go to Africa this summer and I have done it. I stayed there one month and a half.

The holidays we spent in a hotel. 

There bathed elephants and I fed some lions but they were not wield.

I also holded a snake of 9 meters! I learned many things about wild animals.

My parents adopted an baby monkey.

My experience in africa it was very amazing. I recomend all my friends.

 EIGHT BASQUE SURNAMES

   Borja Kobega´s and Diego San José´s film Eight Basque Surnames is amazing . It´s a comedy but it´s also got romance.In the film Eight Basque Surnames Rafa , a boy that has never let his native Sevilla,meets a girl called Amaia .He is in love with her so Rafa traravells to the Basque Country and there he has very funny momens with Amaia.It is a great film and it has exciting moments!!! I recommend it to everyone.

    The best film to see is Karate kid. Karate kid is an action film for all ages specially for children. The main caracters are Daniel Laruso and Miyagi. He is a normal boy but at school they hit him and he wants to pactice kunfu for defending. Miyagi helps him to practice. When he knows bery wel kunfu he concurses in a tournament of kunfu. There he wins (to the people to hit him) and he becomes the winer. The writer recomends to see it because is a bery important leson!!!

The best film to see this summer is definitly BREAKING DOWN PART 2 is an romantic with horror 3D film for above 12 and 13years but if your not 12 years relax you can go with an adoult.The main characters are :Bella swan ,Edwatr Cullen ,Jacob Black , Renesme...And more.Bella transforms in a vapire and she and Edwart have a baby calld Renesme, and voltures think that the baby is an inmortal baby but she is not , Renesme is a baby that it was born and not transformt like they think; then there is to be a war of cullens and wolfs vs voultures, and Aaron the king of the vampires in fact a voulture has a vision wen taches Alices hand so that is hes power by taching the hand of any one he sees the thougt of the person and Aaron sees that they loose the war so they go home and Renesme its a life and protect then Jacob and Renesme grow and are boy and gril friends and that is the filas of the history.        

BREAKING DOWN  is an interesting film and is one of my favorits films I realy recomend it .

 CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2

        The best film to see in a boring day. Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 is an animated film.

In some cinemas they put in 3D film, but it is a little bit more expensive. After Flint Lockwood and his friends save the world from the food storm in the first film. He relocates Flint, his friends, and the citizens of Swallow Falls to San Franjose, California. Unbeknownst to Flint, the FLDSMDFR survived the explosion and landed in the center of the island, and Chester is determined to find it. Chester invites Flint, his biggest fan, to work at Live Corp, where he meets Chester's assistant Barb, a talking orangutan with human intelligence. Six months later, Flint humiliates himself during a promotion ceremony when his invention, the "Celebrationator", explodes. Meanwhile, Chester is informed that his search-parties on the island have been attacked by monstrous cheeseburgers which are learning how to swim. DBH 4, GM ( Genetically Modified) Food

Is GM food danger or opportunity?

In the 21st century, the genetic modification of food is manipulated to grow more food. There are many people who have opinions for and against genetic modification of food.

Many people think that the handling of food is wrong because it might not be safe for health and also are against because they think they can be toxic.

However, there are also people who are in favor for a few reasons; because it could help people who do not really have to eat, also because many vecesesos engineered foods taste good and finally because it may contain more vitamins than normal.

In conclusion, I think the food manioular this well because in spite of having bad things sometimes also has good things and that we have to stay.  Today, almost every market products are already genetically manipulated.

In my opinion, GM food is very bad for us and for our body.

    In conclusion I think that GM food could be a good idea if it's used for people who don't have anything else to eat, but it's not the best idea for normal people who can buy organic food.

Many people to day do not know what does carry the food. The reason for this ocurence is because people do not know what genetical change does it have.

Moreover, the GM food is good because the plant is more resistent to other insects that attac them. Also the food can grow up faster.

In conclusion, in my opinion is more healty to eat natural food even if you have to pay more.

DBH 3, A week without a mobile phone

My record without a mobile phone was in a week. Those days I felt very bored because I haven't been communicated for something. On Monday they take my mobile, I was very sad but I have to accept it. In Tuesday When I have a time to be relaxed I have to do something different because I haven't got the mobile phone. On Wednesday and Thursday was the same but on Friday evening I felt different because all my friends have got the phone except me. But on Sunday I have the phone, I felt very happy. I don't liked the experience I won't try it again.

DBH 2, Survivors

STORY OF SURVIVORS IN THE FILM "THE IMPOSSIBLE"

In this e-mail I will tell the story of a family of survivors in the film " The Impossible", based in real facts. Everything starts when a family goes on holidays to a hotel in Tailandia and suddenly, the 26 December 2004, a tsunami comes inside the coast while they were laying in the hotel's pool. In one moment, all the coast is flooded. The family separates in two parts: the mother (Maria)  and the oldest son (Lucas), and the father (Henry) and the two youngest boys (Simon and Thomas). After a time, the mother and Lucas reach a hospital that will treat Maria, who is very ill. After an exhaustive search to find the rest of their family, Henry and the kids go to that hospital and, suddenly, they see Maria and Lucas. Finally, all travel to Singapur, where they will treat Maria in better conditions.I admire this family because I think they were very brave and they never gave up.

AMAZING SURVIVAL

STORY

MIKE THE HEADLESS CHICKEN

   In 1945 American farmer Lloyd Olsen, of Fruita, Colorado was sent out to the yard by his wife to bring back a chicken for dinner. Olsen chose a five-and-a-half-month-old cockerel named Mike.

  Using an axe he cut off the rooster's head - but the bird did not die.

 Amazingly despite having no head, the chicken was still able to balance on a perch and walk clumsily.

  Mr Olsen continued to care for Mike, feeding him milk and water via an eyedropper and also small grains of corn. Sadly, 18 months later Mike died when he choked and Mr Olsen could not clear the blockage.

40 years ago the players of a rugby team were flying from Uruguay to Chile when suddenly the aeroplane crushed in the Andes. It was very cold there and they haven't got much things to eat, so when someone died because of the cold, the rest of the players ate the died person. Some explorers found them 72 years later and they were 16 survivers from 45 persons that travelled in that aeroplane.

The Impossible

The Impossible is a film that passed in 2007 in Thailandia. Is about a family that go to Thailandia to passed christmas there. When they were in the swimming pool a tsunami arraived and the family separated. Finaly the family jointed and they when to Spain in a aeroplane. Thailandia was broken-down.

Juliane Koepcke, the sole survivor of a plane crash in the Peruvian Amazon, wandered a crocodile-infested jungle for nine days before being rescued. Koepcke fell 2 miles from the sky still strapped in by her seatbelt when her plane crashed into the       Amazonian mountains in 1971. Remarkably, the German 17 year old sustained only moderate injuries.                                                                               She spent 10 days looking for help in the jungle, where the waters teemed with crocodiles and piranhas, until she was discovered by a group of Peruvian lumberjacks.

I survived to a white shark

 

James Maslow a young scientist from Florida was taking information from sharks when a big shark hit the boat and fell into the water. 

 The shark was rounding him . He was very frightened ,but in that moment a big ship came to save him of  the shark .When he was going to go up, the shark bit him and it got a teeth in the leg.He is one of the survivors .And you ?

A experience that I have read on a book is this:

A man haved 2 childrens and his wife. 

One the day a assassin killed her wife  and the the man promise himself he will kill the assassin of his wife. 

He killed a lots of persons to find that person and at the final of the book the man killed the assassin.

This story is based on real events.

Roy Cleveland Sullivan (February 7, 1912 ? September 28, 1983) was a United States park ranger in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. Between 1942 and 1977, Sullivan was hit by lightning on seven different occasions and survived all of them. For this reason, he gained a nickname "Human Lightning Conductor" or "Human Lightning Rod". Sullivan is recognized by Guinness World Records as the person struck by lightning more recorded times than any other human being. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 71 over an unrequited love.
