DBH 4, Medical discoveries

Anesthetic
Anesthetia was discovered in the late 19th century. In the 18th century amputations were made in a table with an injuried man biting on a piece of wood.

At first, cocaine was used like an anestetic method so the pacient couldn´t feel the pain. But the cocaine was harmful and addivtive to the human body. Arround the same time chloroform was also used like an anesthetic.
Today anesthetia is totally harmless.

Penicillin
Penicillin is a group of antiviotics which include penicillin G, penicillin V, procaine penicillin and benzathine penicillin. Its was the first medication to be affective against many bacterial infections.

It was discovered in the 19th century by Alexander Fleming. A lot of scientists and physicians where trying to discover what process was causing the effect of the different types of mould including mould penicillium and its was finally isolated in 1928.

Now a days the penicillin is a very importantes medicine for a lot of different diseases.

PENICILLIN

Besides  being one of the most important medical discoveries in  history, penicillin was also one of the most amazing accidental discoveries.
It was discovered by Alexander Fleming, who while he was studying flu in 1928, left a window of the laboratory opened and was gone almost a month.

When he returned to the laboratory, discovery that in the petry dish he has forgotten, a kind of fungus had ruined the culture of staphylococcus bacteria he kept there.

However, what Fleming actually discovered was the  properties of Penicillium fungi, which can eliminate bacteria in a very effective way.  
This discovery allowed the development of many important medicines that have saved the lives of millions of people, and won him a Nobel Prize.

 Insulin
        
            The Insulin is a hormone made by our own pancreas. This substance  allows our body to use sugar, mostly from carbohydrates. Inslulin helps to keep our blood sugar level from getting it too high or too low. The stored sugar isn’t released until our blood sugar levels decrease, such as between meals or when our body feels stressed. 
            The Insulin was discovered when scientists were trying to learn more about diabetes. It actually happened when Frederick Banting and Charles H. Best analysed a dog's pancreas. They realised how important Insulin was for us and also how to use it as a way of helping people with diabetes.
            In conclusion, although Insulin is not the most used medical discovery in the world it has been a salvation for those who  suffer from diabetes.

PENICILLIN

Penicillin is a group of antibiotics which include penicillin G, penicllin V, procaine penicillin and benzhatine penicillin. This was the first invention to be effective against many bacterial infections. It is now very commonly used.
Penicillin was discovered on September 1928 by Alexander Fleming, a Scottish scientist. He said that he discovered it by accident: a Petri dish was left overnight and showed that a mold was actively repelling the bacteria around it. The first succesful cure with penicillin is recorded on November 25, 1930.

Nowadays, this discovery is used  to treat bacterial infections in many differents parts of the body and it's sometimes  given with other antibacterial drugs. However, none of the penicillin is effective for colds, flus or other viral infections. One of the disadvantages of using penicillin is that it can cause side effects such as diarrea and headache.

Penicillin has come so widely employed that a modern medicine would be unimaginable.

PENICILLIN 
  

The discover of  penicilin was so importan because saved a lot of life and   is able to kill the bacterias that causes infections.

After penicillin was discovered the life expectancy of people rose significantly because some of the diseases that were previously incurable now with a simple dose of this powerful elixir could cure the person
Is one of the most important discorver but if the use is efficient , because  the excess kills red globules and can cause anemia.

DISCOVERY OF INSULIN
The discovery of insulin did not come out of the blue; it was made on the back of a growing understanding of diabetes mellitus during the nineteenth centry.
Diabetes itself had been understood by its symptoms as far back as the 1600s - when it was described as the "pissing evile" - and the urination and thirst associated with it had been recognized thousands of years before.
A feared and usually deadly disease, doctors in the nineteenth century knew that sugar worsened diabetes and that limited help could be given by dietary restriction of sugar. But if that helped, it also caused death from starvation.
Scientists observed the damañged pancreases of people who died with diabetes. In 1869, a German medical student found clusters of cells in the pancreas that would go on to be named after him.

DISCOVER OF PENICILIN
Penicilin was discovered by Alexander Fleming in 1929.
The penicilin acts as an antibiotic.Penicillins are antibiotics of the group of beta-lactams used profusely in the treatment of infections caused by sensitive bacteria. 
Most penicillins are derived from 6-aminopenicillanic acid, differing from one another by substitution on the side chain of their amino group. Penicillin G or bencipenicillin was the first widely used antibiotic in medicine; His discovery was attributed to Alexander Fleming in 1928, who along with scientists Ernst Boris Chain and Howard Walter Florey - who created a method to mass produce the drug - won the Nobel Prize in Physiology.
The penicilin doesn´t have any disadvantages.

GENETICS:

Mendel is known for his work on genetics when in 1865 he investigated how organisms inherit genetic traits of certain forms .

Genetics is the branch of science that studies the biological inheritance that is transmitted from generation to generation and allows to understand what happens in the cellular cycles of organisms, encompassing everything related to DNA and RNA.

 In these terms, a name that always sounds is that of Gregor Mendel, pioneer in that field. From there, the development of genetics was dizzying and still in constant evolution, has allowed enormous and unimaginable advances in medicin.

Anesthetic
   Is a drug that they use to prevent pain in the surgery. There are two tipes of anesthetic; General ore local. 
    Thomas Green Morton discovered the anesthesia. The first step toward the discovery of how to anesthetize patients had been given for Joseph Priestley, in 1773. For the patient there were grateful because they could´t suffer more in the surgery.
     Now a day, they use a lot of anesthetic,for a lot of surgery. It is difficult to imagine the medicin without anesthetic.

Anesthesia

In the practice of medicine especially surgery and dentistry anesthesia  is a temporary induced loss of sensation.It is used in surgerys. 

Anesthesia was discovered in 1846 by a dentist,Thomas Green Morton. Imagining the possibility of a surgery without pain, the dentist requested an authorization to try its device in a bigger surgery.

There are 3 types of anesthesia. 
General anesthesia which affect central nervous system.
Sedation is the same of general but a leeser degree.
Regional anesthesia which only affects in one part.

Penicillin
The penicillin has been the most important discovery in medicine.It´s the most important because it was the first medicine.It was discovered by Alexander Fleming in the year 1928.
The advantages of the penicilin are that can be used for every bacterial infection.But the worst part is that the overuse of the drug can cause addiction.
To conclude,I will say that without the penicillin no penicillin would be existing.

Between 1946 the scientist William Thomas Morton discovered that some chemical products can be useful for the anesthesia so it is possible to perform operations without pain.
Also will help the scientist Thomas Jackson but who most worked in the study and management of the anesthesia was Morton, therefore is the person who was granted the discovery of anesthesia

 IBUPROFENO
Doctors use the ibuprofeno to cure human diseases.The ibuprofeno was invented in 1969 by Boots group.This medicament is used to cure inflamations,headeche and many diseases.Also is used to cure acne because have anti inflamatoric product.
To sum up,ibuprofeno is one of the most useful discoveries off all time.Its difficult to imagine modern medicine with out it.

🍬MMR🍬
The MMR vaccine (also known as the MPR vaccine after the Latin names of the diseases) is an immunization vaccine againstmeaslesmumps, and rubella (German measles). It is a mixture of live attenuated viruses of the three diseases, administered via injection. It was first developed by Maurice Hilleman while at Merck.
For example, in the case of mumps and measles viruses, the virus strains were grown in embryonated hens' eggs and chick embryo cell cultures. This produced strains of virus which were adapted for the hens egg and less well-suited for human cells. These strains are therefore called attenuated strains. They are sometimes referred to as neuroattenuated because these strains are less virulent to humanneurons than the wild strains.👋
