A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte
A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte was painted by George Seurat between 1884 and 1886. It is representational and it shows people relaxing in the island of La Grande Jatte. It is an example of pointillism, a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image, executed in a large canvas with oil.
In this painting, we can see the different types of people in the Parisian society. If we start in the lower left corner, we first see a rower who is smoking, lying in the grass. Just behind there is an elegant couple, he with cane and she embroidering. Beyond, two girls on the shore, who are said two be prostitutes. If we continue along the shore, we will see a young woman with umbrella, a man with a hat and the boat with the rowers. Starting at the bottom right corner, we have first a very elegant couple walking. The man is wearing a top hat, a monocle, a flower on his lapel and a cigar in his hand. She is very elegant, with her umbrella, and she is holding a monkey with a strap. This usually meant that she was a prostitute and a kept woman by the man. Finally, we can see two girls sitting on the floor, a mother carrying her little girl by the hand, a man playing the trumpet and two soldiers, most probably customers of the two prostitutes on the shore.
In my opinion it is a beautiful work of art and full of talent, and what Seurat wanted to express in this painting is that nothing is really what it seems.

The Guernika
The Guernika was painted by Pablo Picasso in 1937. It shows the destruction of the
Guernika city. The painting is abstract but very big and representative.
In the painting we can see a cowhose where are some animals and humans.
We can also see some human parts in the floor and other people
screaming for the things that they are liveing and looking. The black and
withe colors mean the old painting and the sadness of that moment in the
story of the city.
In the painting we can feel the feelings of the painter and the misfortune of
all the people of the Guernica city. This make thrill me and in my opinion
this makes the painting beautiful.

The painting Virgin of the fly
Virgin of the fly was conserved from old in the sacristy of the Colegiata de Toro, but without documentation that clarifies its origin. Is famous because the fly that is in the red mantle.
The painting shows the Virgin and Child, there are two standing figures: an unidentified male saint and the Magdalena. The figure who is most prominent, sitting in the ground, pausing to read a book, has been identified as Saint Catherine of Alexandria, but her facial features seem to correspond to the portraits of Isabella the Catholic, in which case it would be the Representation of the client of the work, although not everyone agree.
In the Virgin of the fly, I thing that the fly is there for calling the atention. But I thing that is interesant because is the only painting that has that.

"GUERNICA"
"Guernica" is a mural-sized oil painting that was painted by Pablo Picasso in June 1937. This painting uses a palette of gray, white and black. It was actually created because of the bombing in Gernika. a town in the north of Spain.
This mural represents the suffering of people that day. There is a bull standing right next to a women with a dead baby in her arms. There is also a horse which could be the major focus of the painting. There are also many other women and men dying because of the violence. This painting really shows the situation of Gernika during that day.
In my opinion this mural is really filled of sadness, specially for the people that live in Gernika, but I also think that it is a real masterpiece.
