Saving Energy DBH 2

DBH 2 students have been working individually on how to save energy at school. Have a look! You may learn something new! :)
Meanwhile you can play this game about saving energy to get some ideas. Sorry, it´s in Spanish.

HOW TO SAVE ENERGY

There are so many forms to save energy on schools or at home, we can do some things like use low energy lamps. Switch off the ligths you don't use. Switch off and if you can desconnect the appliances you don't use. Don't use so much the air conditioning because is one of the appliances that consume more. Turn of the tap when it's not in use.

Do not pull the toilet to the silly, only when you have to use it. Buy low energy things like for example the electric car.Controle that the fridge is close and don't open it so much times. Because if you're all the time opening and closeing thefridge use more energy that normal. O summer open the windows to use natural light and to heat the house. Recicle the paper on the paper bin the plastic on the plastic bin... Because recicling we can reuse and reusing we can pollute less.

Energy saving:
Change the thermostat settings in rooms to 78 during warmer months and 68 during cooler months. Doing so will lower the heating and air conditioning use.
Reuse and Recycle.
If the school has not set up a recycling effort, do it now. Reusing
paper and recycling paper saves money and energy. Recycle aluminum cans and plastic bottles.

Turn Out the Lights
Lighting is one of the largest users of energy in the classroom. By turning out the lights when a classroom is unoccupied, the school can save money. The school may also want to consider "occupancy sensors" that detected whether there are people in the room. If no one is there, the switch turns off the light.
In case of having two or more bulbs, we could just use one if we the light isn't necessary at the moment. We couls also open windows to use the sunlight.

Energy saving
People don’t care about the environment. We are destroying our planet little by little. If everybody did something for saving energy the Earth would be much better.
There are many types of bulbs. Some of them use much energy and there are some others that are cheaper and use a 25% less of energy than others. Is a way for saving energy and spend less money on things that aren’t necessary at all. Just the 90% of the energy is given off as heat. That’s why the bulbs that use less energy are cheaper. But the best way to save energy is using the sunlight. On sunny days is recommended to use the sunlight in case of lamps and artificial light. At school everyday a lot of paper is used. But in case of using usual paper how if everybody would use recycled paper? For each pack of recycled paper we save a tree. That would increase a lot the environment. We also have to use the less water as possible because lots of people do not have potable water. It’s important not to use hot water if is not necessary. Those are ideas to save energy at school, but we can save energy at home to with some of those ideas. If the hitter is on we don’t have to open the windows because the heat goes out and is missed energy. Switch off the computers, mobiles, TVs…If you won’t use them again. If you can wear something warm in order to do not switch on the hitter at home. Use public transports for long journeys and if it’s possible ride bikes or walk.
These are some of the ideas to improve the environment and the natural conditionals.

SAVING ENERGY & WATER AT SCHOOL

It is very important to save energy and water not only in our schools but also in our houses and our environment. Hereby you can find enclosed some tips:
SAVING ELECTRICITY:
1.     Use low consumption bulbs: they save up to 75 % of energy.
2.     Do not forget to switch off the light when you go out of a room or the day light is enough.
3.     If you have central heating adjust the thermostat to 20ºC in winter and 25º C in summer. Each supplementary degree represents more than 7 % of energetic consumption.
4.     Switch off all lights at night.
5.     Once you finish using the projector turn it off. Do the same with the computers and printers.

IN THE TOILET...

6. Do not use the toilet as a garbage basket.

7. Do not flush the toilet without a reason.

8. Check the toilets have no water leaks: a toilet that loses water can waste up to 2000 liters of water in one year.
9.  When you are brushing your teeth do not leave the tap open.

10. Before you go home make sure all taps are closed and there is no leak in the toilets.

HOW TO SAVE ENERGY:
Know how to save energy at home, at school or at work? It is very easy, all you have to do is this:
1-    Turning off lights in rooms that are uninhabited.
2-    In winter open shades and use sunlight to heat the home rather than spend heating.
3-    Produce less waste: recycle, reuse and repair.
4-    While you brush your teeth do not leave the tap running.
5-    A quick shower uses less hot water than a tub.
6-    When you can, use public transport and not his own car.
7-    Turn off your computer while you are using.
8-    Using the washer fills, saves water and electricity.
9-    If you have central heating thermostat graduates.
10-     Not flush the toilet without.

How save energy?
Saving energy is to reduce our energy consumption has become a global necessity. From the proper management of resources and implementing solutions for energy efficiency and renewable energy, we can achieve maximum energy savings.
Saving energy is also a duty of solidarity, if we consider that each person in the developed countries consume, on average, the same energy as 16 citizens of the Third World.
If you want to help give you ideas,
*do not open the windows with the heat on.
* When reforms in your home, please place a thermal insulation in exterior walls.
* Wash in cold or low temperature, 90% of the electricity consumed is for heating water. Use preferably wash cycles at 30 ° or 40 ° and 90 ° avoids.
* To fill the washing machine and uses economic programs.
* Take advantage of daylight.
* Turn off lights when leaving rooms.
*Use lights coming to work as reading, studying ... indirect light and eliminates consumer posed by having to be more powerful.
* Purchase computers that are equipped with energy saving systems. One of the most common logo is known as Energy Star Environmental Protection Agency in the U.S. that ensures that each component has a consumption less than 30 W. Other logos are trademarks of Nutek and Swedish TCO
*The refrigerator place it away from heat sources and with adequate ventilation.
*Keep a minimum distance between the refrigerator and the walls.
